Recarburizer, also known as Carbon Additive, Carbon Raiser, Carburant. It is a additive used to increase the carbon content of steel or cast iron. The main users are steel plants and foundries.
In the steelmaking process, due to improper ingredients or charging, or excessive decarburization, the carbon content in the steel may not meet the expected requirements. So it is necessary to add recarburizer to the molten steel.
Recarburizer were added into the middle-lower parts of the intermediate frequency electric furnace or the converter, according to the required amount. By manual stirring or electromagnetic stirring to motivate the absorption in liquid iron. The timing of recarburizer use should be along the process of adding metals.
In the production of cast iron, the use of recarburizer can greatly increase the amount of slag. Also, it can reduce the amount of pig iron or eliminate the need for pig iron. Create conditions for the formation of graphite, thereby improving the quality of castings.
According to different materials and specifications, recarburizers can be classified as several types: CAC, CPC, GPC, HGC which means calcined anthracite coal, calcined petroleum coke, graphited petroleum coke, half-graphited coke.
