Ferrosilicon 72 refers to ferrosilicon with a silicon content of about 72%. It is a common iron-silicon alloy and is mainly used in the metallurgical industry. The largest application areas of Ferro silicon are the steelmaking industry and the casting industry.

In the steelmaking industry, FeSi 72, like Ferrosilicon 75, is a good deoxidizer and alloy additive. When smelting medium carbon steel, ferrosilicon will solve in the molten steel. As a result, it can effectively deoxidize and can also be an alloying agent to improve the performance of the steel.

In the foundry industry, ferrosilicon 72 is a good inoculant and spheroidizing agent. It helps precipitate graphite and increases the wear, corrosion and fatigue resistance of steel. When casting low-phosphorus and low-sulfur iron castings, ferrosilicon can play a role of inoculant to effectively promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite and improve the performance of cast iron.

In addition, ferrosilicon 72 has other applications. For example, ground or atomized ferrosilicon powder is a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry. It is also useful as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High silicon FeSi can be a material in the chemical industry to make products such as silicone.

Compared to Ferrosilicon 75, FeSi has slightly lower silicon content. At the same time, the aluminum content is generally higher than FeSi75. FeSi75 is used in large amounts in the steelmaking process. At the same time, it is also an important raw material in the production of Magnesium Ingot. FeSi72 is widely used in the casting field. Smaller particles provide faster melting and application results, so FeSi72 products often come in different grain sizes.
