Pidgeon Production Method of Mg Ingot

The Pidgeon process is a relatively typical method for producing magnesium metal and most magnesium ingot factories applies. The raw materials required in this method are dolomite ore, fluorite, ferrosilicon 75 grade, coke and scarp iron. Firstly, the dolomite is shall be in qualified particle size through a crusher, sintered in a rotary kiln and cooled by a cooler. Then, grind it into powder by a ball mill and presse into balls by a ball press.

The dolomite is calcined in a rotary kiln or vertical kiln to make calcined-white. Then, mix It evenly with ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder to form a dough. Finally, the pellets will be in a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank in a reduction furnace, to produce crude magnesium at 1200-1250°C and at a vacuum of 1.33Pa. After flux refining, ingot casting, surface After processing, we can obtain the finished magnesium ingot.

Electrolysis Method Production of Magnesium Ingot

The electrolysis method converts magnesium chloride solution into metallic magnesium through electrolysis. First, chlorinate the magnesium oxide is to form magnesium chloride. Then, magnesium chloride dissolve in water to form a magnesium chloride solution. Next, the magnesium chloride solution is electrolyzed, the magnesium chloride is reduced to metallic magnesium. Finally, the colletct the generated metallic magnesium, refine and purify it to obtain magnesium ingots.
